What is the Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project in Erie County, NY?
The Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project in Erie County, NY is a monumental endeavor by six partner organizations working to transform our community into one of the first no-kill counties in the U.S..  By October of 2013Erie County will be a place where no healthy or treatable shelter dogs and cats are euthanized.  The Project partners include: Black Dog, Second Chance; City of Buffalo Animal Shelter; HEART; Second Chance Sheltering Network; SPCA Serving Erie County; and Ten Lives Club.  Operation Pets, a spay/neuter clinic for low income residents,  is also a partner.
Thanks to a generous grant from Maddie’s Fund® of $5 million over the course of five years, the Project partners are determined to find a loving home for every healthy and treatable animal that enters their doors.  Funding is conditional upon meeting pre-determined adoption goals.
Project years:
Year 1: Oct. 2009 to Sept. 2010
